Two Concordia University track and field athletes earned conference honors on Thursday. Tierra Hubbard and Zach Meineke were each named as GPAC Athletes-of-the-Week for their performances last weekend for the Bulldogs.
Hubbard was named this week’s field athlete-of-the-week. A junior from Roanoke, VA, Hubbard won the weight throw at the Doane Field Plus Open with a toss of 54’ 9 ¼”. The mark set a new Concordia school record and qualifies her for the NAIA National Championships in March.
Meineke, a senior from Denver, CO, was named track athlete-of-the-week. He placed second in the 3,000 meters at the Nebraska Holiday Inn Invite. His time of 8:34.97 is tops in the GPAC. He also ran the lead leg of the distance medley relay, which qualified for NAIA Nationals with a time of 10:19.83.
