Concordia University pulled away for a 77-60 GPAC women’s basketball win over Dana College on Tuesday evening in Blair.  Concordia moved to 11-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play with the win.  Dana dropped to 2-13 overall and 0-6 in the GPAC with the loss. 

The host Vikings used hot shooting in the first half to remain close.  Dana connected on 11-of-19 shots in the first half for 57.9 percent, but Concordia still held a 35-32 halftime lead.  A 12-0 Concordia run midway through the second half allowed the Bulldogs to pull away to a comfortable lead of 58-43.  Concordia led by as many as 24 down the stretch and settled for the 77-60 win. 

Concordia tightened up defensively in the final half to help pull away for the victory.  Dana hit just 9-of-29 shots in the second half for 31 percent, and Concordia forced 30 Viking turnovers on the night. 

Concordia hit 23-of-51 shots in the game for 45.1 percent.  The Bulldogs were 10-of-20 from the three point line for 50 percent and 21-of-31 at the free throw line for 67.7 percent.  Dana held a 34-25 rebounding advantage.  Concordia totaled 15 steals on the night and held a 28-18 advantage in bench points.  Concordia also capitalized on Dana miscues, as the Bulldogs finished the evening with 42 points off turnovers. 

Stacy Scheer had a solid performance on both ends of the floor to lead the way for Concordia.  Scheer scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and added five steals and three assists.  TaLisa Krejci added 13 points and three steals, while Kristin Miller delivered nine points, five boards, four blocks and a steal for the Bulldogs. 

Kalen Carlson scored a team-high 15 points and added nine rebounds for Dana College.  Kayla Hofstetter scored 12, and Tricia Trotter added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Vikings. 

Concordia continues GPAC play with a 2 p.m. contest at Dordt College on Jan. 9.
