WBB: Cold shooting costs Concordia in 49-42 loss to Holy Names

The Concordia University women’s basketball team suffered a 49-42 loss to Holy Names University on Tuesday afternoon.  Both teams struggled offensively, but Holy Names rallied in the second half for the win.  The Bulldogs dropped to 9-5 on the year with the loss. 

Concordia led by one (21-20) at halftime, but the Hawks (8-9) outscored Concordia 29-21 in the second half to earn the win.  Holy Names was 14-of-59 from the field for 23.7 percent.  The Hawks were just 4-of-22 from behind the three point line for 18.2 percent and 17-of-24 at the foul line for 70.8 percent.  Concordia connected on 12-of-56 shots from the field for 21.4 percent.  The Bulldogs were just 2-of-12 from the three point line for 16.7 percent and 16-of-27 at the foul line for 59.3 percent.  Concordia held a 47-35 rebounding advantage but also committed 28 turnovers to just 21 for Holy Names. 

Jamie-Leigh Ronolo scored 13 points, and McCain Anitra added eight points to lead Holy Names in the win.  Katie Rich scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Concordia in the loss.  TaLisa Krejci added nine points, and Stacy Scheer chipped in with six points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs. 

Concordia will battle Simpson College on Wednesday.
