Northwestern College, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, pulled away for a 77-64 women’s basketball win over Concordia on Saturday afternoon in Seward.  The Red Raiders improved to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the GPAC with the win.  Concordia dropped to 9-4 overall and 3-3 in the GPAC with the loss. 

The first half was close throughout with several ties and lead changes.  The Raiders took a slim 35-34 lead into the halftime break.  An 8-0 Northwestern run midway through the second half gave the Raiders a 54-45 lead and some breathing room.  Concordia would get as close as seven at 57-50, but Northwestern secured the 77-64 win. 

Northwestern hit 26-of-69 shots in the contest for 37.7 percent.  The Red Raiders were 10-of-22 from the three point line for 45.5 percent and 15-of-19 at the foul line for 78.9 percent. 

Kami Kuhlmann had a game-high 21 points to lead the way for the Raiders.  Becca Hurley added 19 points, nine assists and six boards, while Randa Hulstein had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds for Northwestern.  The Raiders had 17 turnovers.   

Concordia was 20-of-57 from the field for 35.1 percent.  The Bulldogs connected on just 8-of-28 from the three point line for 28.6 percent and were 16-of-21 from the foul line for 76.2 percent.  Concordia turned it over 21 times in the game. 

Stacy Scheer scored 18 points and added six rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead the way for the Bulldogs.  Treva Nutter added 15 points and six boards for the Bulldogs.
