Three players scored in double figures as the Concordia University men’s basketball team earned a 72-53 road win over Midland Lutheran on Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the GPAC with the victory. The Warriors slipped to 2-7 overall and remained winless in GPAC play at 0-2.
Concordia led by as many as 13 in the opening half and took a 39-28 lead into halftime. The Warriors pulled within seven at 41-34 early in the second half, but Concordia pulled away. The Bulldogs led by as many as 21 down the stretch and took home the 72-53 win.
Concordia hit 25-of-56 shots in the game for 44.6 percent. The Bulldogs were 7-of-21 (33.3 percent) from the three point line and a solid 15-of-18 (83.3 percent) at the foul line. Concordia held a 42-35 rebounding advantage, and both teams turned the ball over 14 times.
Midland connected on 23-of-67 shots for 34.3 percent. The Warriors were just 3-of-10 from the three point line and 4-of-6 at the free throw line.
Ryan Railey had a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs in the win. Railey went 6-of-13 overall from the field and was 6-of-11 from the three point line on the night. Porter Birtell added 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Sam Huebner scored 10 points to go along with three assists and two blocks for Concordia.
Jason Ahrens had a team-high 17 points to go along with five rebounds for Midland. Brandon Mach added nine points for the Warriors.
Concordia hosts Doane College on Dec. 2 in an 8 p.m. contest at the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center.
