Concordia University picked up a 68-66 overtime win over Mount Marty on Saturday afternoon.  The Bulldogs improved to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the GPAC with the win.  Mount Marty slipped to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the GPAC with the loss. 

Concordia jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead to start the game.  The Bulldogs threatened to pull away, but Mount Marty closed the gap late in the first half.  Two made free throws by Evan Kucera gave Concordia a slim 25-21 halftime lead. 

Concordia again threatened to pull away early in the second half.  A made jumper by Kucera gave the Bulldogs a 45-29 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining in the contest.  However, the Lancers again chipped away at the lead, and a jumper by Dan Harmon tied the score at 58-58 and sent the game into overtime. 

The overtime period remained tightly contested throughout.  A Tyler Byrd free throw gave the Bulldogs a 68-64 lead with just over a minute remaining.  Two made free throws by Mount Marty’s Stephen Klekas pulled the Lancers within two at 68-66.  Concordia missed four straight free throws down the stretch to leave the door open for Mount Marty.  However, Trey Krier missed a three pointer as time expired, and the Bulldogs held on for the dramatic 68-66 win. 

Concordia hit 21-of-52 shots in the game for 40.4 percent.  The Bulldogs were 5-of-14 from the three point line for 35.7 percent and 21-of-32 at the free throw line for 65.6 percent.  Concordia turned the ball over 13 times in the contest. 

Mount Marty was 19-of-55 from the field for 34.5 percent.  The Lancers connected on just 2-of-14 from the three point line for 14.3 percent and hit 26-of-37 from the foul line for 70.3 percent.  Mount Marty held a 37-26 rebounding advantage in the game. 

Brent Houchin scored 13 points to lead three Bulldogs in double figures.  Dustin Weber added 12 points and four boards, and Evan Kucera delivered 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds for Concordia in the win. 

Dan Harmon scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to lead Mount Marty.  Jared Wall added 15 points and six boards for the Lancers. 

Concordia will travel to Midland Lutheran for an 8 p.m. contest on Nov. 24.
