Women's Results, Men's Results
Both Concordia University cross country teams finished first at the Mount Marty Invitational held on Saturday. There were 12 teams and 148 total runners in the women’s race. There were 18 teams and 162 total runners in the men’s race.
In the women’s race, five Concordia runners finished in the top 20 overall. Freshman Jena Schwalenberg was second overall with a time of 18:28 to lead the Bulldog women, while Sarah Kortze finished in seventh at 18:46. Alicia Marteney was 11th with a time of 19:08, Ann Hershberger was close behind in 13th at 19:12 and Dana Kluthe finished in 15th at 19:22. Other top finishers for the Concordia women included Rebecca Mol in 21st at 19:37 and Hannah Ferry in 29th at 19:52.
Even without one of its top runners, the Concordia men’s team placed six runners in the top 20. Dana Schmidt led the way in second place overall with a time of 25:20. David Goeglein was fifth at 25:46, and Tyson Billings was sixth with a time of 25:53. Colin Morrissey finished in eighth with a time of 25:55, and Jon Grotefendt was 15th at 26:17. Other top finishers for the Bulldog men included Zane Grabau in 17th at 26:18 and Matt Trampe in 25th with a time of 26:43.
Concordia will take part in the GPAC Championships on Nov. 7 in Fremont.
