Concordia’s Jackie Ford scored in the 10th minute of overtime to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-3 win over Sterling College on Tuesday afternoon.  The Bulldogs improved to 2-1 on the season with the win.

Molly Humlicek, Carolyn Chrzan and Jackie Ford scored goals in the first half for the Bulldogs, who took a 3-2 lead into halftime.  Humlicek scored in the 12th minute off an assist by Chrzan.  Chrzan scored in the 29th minute, and Ford’s goal was in the 39th minute off an assist by Sarah Hoffmann.

Sterling College rallied in the second half to tie the score and send the game to overtime.  However, Ford’s second goal of the game gave the Bulldogs the exciting 4-3 win.  Chrzan had her second assist of the game on Ford’s game-winning goal.

Concordia head coach Rob Giesbrecht commented on the ups and downs of the contest.  “The girls really persevered again today,” said Giesbrecht.  “We were sluggish at the start of the game, and we didn’t play well in the first half.  We played much better in the second half, and we got more and more good chances as the game went on.”

Concordia returns home to host McPherson College on Saturday.  The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.
