WSOC: Concordia picked 11th in GPAC poll

Concordia University was voted 11th in the Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s soccer preseason poll.  Dordt College was selected as the favorite for the 2009 women’s soccer season with 138 points and nine first-place votes followed by Hastings College with 135 points and three first-place votes.  Concordia finished with 36 points in the poll.

Midland was third with 115 points and the final first-place vote.  Doane (110) and Dana (100) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.  Morningside (89), Dakota Wesleyan (75), Sioux Falls (69), Nebraska Wesleyan (60) and Briar Cliff (44) finished sixth through 10th.  Concordia, Northwestern and Mount Marty rounded out the poll. 

Concordia finished the 2008 season with an overall record of 6-12 with a 3-9 mark in the GPAC.  The Bulldogs open the 2009 season on Aug. 27 with a 4 p.m. road contest at York College.
