TF: Hinrichs breaks hammer throw record at Doane Relays

The Concordia University track and field team overcame windy conditions as they competed in the Doane College Relays in Crete, Neb., Saturday afternoon.

Charista Zehnder won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.51 seconds before winning the long jump with a mark of 18'8". Katie Swanson was victorious in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.86 seconds. Emily Wolters won the 400-meter hurdles by almost four seconds, crossing the finish line at 1:02.22. The Bulldogs' Emilie Bourret bested teammates Rebecca Mol and Rachelle Gross in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:37.01.

For the Concordia men Luka Thor won the 1500-meter run, edging out Doane's Sufian Kimo with a winning time of 3:59.31. Colin Morrissey ran away from the field in the 5000-meter run, winning by almost 20 seconds with a time of 15:26.03. Jon Grotefendt completed the Concordia sweep in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a victorious time of 9:36.53. Jordan Hinrichs set a new school record while winning the hammer throw with a distance of 187'11".

The Bulldogs will split the squad for the upcoming weekend as some Bulldogs will head to the Drake Relays on April 24, while another group will attend the Hastings Open on April 25.
