The Concordia University baseball team picked up a split with rival Doane College Friday afternoon at Ledon Field in Crete, Neb. The Bulldogs won game one 6-3 before falling 12-3 in game two.

In game one the Bulldogs reeled off six runs in two and a half innings to jump out to a 6-0 lead and were able to hold on as the Tigers threatened in the last three innings. Zach Goodrich led the Bulldog offense in game one, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs while Jack Holmberg and Ben Placzek each registered multiple hits in game one. Jacob Yurich picked up the win for the Bulldogs on the mound, his first of the 2009 season, to push his record to 1-3 overall.

Game two was a different story for the Bulldogs as Doane rattled off 13 runs on 17 hits to down Concordia. The Bulldog offense was held in check, scoring just three runs on three hits for the game. Peyton McLachlan took the loss for the Bulldogs on the mound, throwing  2 1-3 innings and giving up nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits.
