The Concordia University men's tennis team had a dominating start to the 2009 GPAC season with an 8-1 defeat of the Midland Lutheran College Warriors Wednesday afternoon in Fremont, Neb.
Concordia cruised in the singles, taking all five matches. Jeremy Jank won the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-2 for the Bulldogs over Ethan Stout. Jon Schleicher defeated Evan Hoisington 6-2, 6-2. Scott Schlesinger defeated CJ Anderson 6-0, 6-2. Ryan Duerr defeated Luke Borst 6-0, 6-4. Marcus Herring defeated Cole Gore 6-0, 6-0, and Tim Meyer defeated Reese Forang 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles action the Bulldogs were victorious in Nos. 2 and 3 doubles action. Concordia's combo of Duerr and Herring defeated Anderson and Borst 8-1 while Schlesinger and Kaldahl defeated Gore and Forang 8-0. The only setback of the afternoon came in the battle of the No. 1s when Concordia's Jank and Schleicher were defeated 8-6 by Stout and Hoisington.
Next action for the Bulldogs comes April 2 as Concordia travels to Omaha, Neb., to take on the University of Nebraska-Omaha, a NCAA Div. II opponent.
