The Bulldogs established some dominance in the GPAC south with a 79-61 victory over the Hastings College Broncos Wednesday night at the Doghouse in Seward, Neb.
With a 17-9 run to open the game, the Bulldogs never relinquished the lead and cruised out to a 39-30 halftime lead. Concordia's offense was fueled by the hot shooting of Dustin Weber and Ryan Shrum who had 13 and nine points respectively at the intermission.
In the second half the Broncos were able to cut the Concordia lead to single digits at the nine minute mark, 59-50, but would not draw any closer. The Bulldogs would use a 13-2 run to finish off Hastings and extend their lead to as many 21.
Weber finished the game as the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 17 points. Concordia's Dusan Veselinovic added 16 points and Shrum finished the game with 13. Kyle Wamsley led the Broncos with 13 points.
The victory moves the Bulldogs to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in the GPAC. The Broncos drop to 8-11 overall and 3-4 in the GPAC.
Concordia sets its sights now on the Cougars of Sioux Falls who make their way to the Doghouse for a 4 p.m. meeting on Saturday, Jan. 10.
