MSOC: Tigers nip Bulldogs in OT

The Concordia University, Nebraska men's soccer team lost an overtime thriller 3-2 to the Doane College Tigers, Tuesday evening at Simon Field in Crete, Neb.

The Bulldogs (2-5, 1-2 GPAC) got the scoring started as freshman Aaron Skipworth found the back of the net unassisted in the 13th minute of the first half. Doane (6-3, 3-0 GPAC) answered quickly with a goal by Chris Hedgecock off an assist from Kyle Smith in the 17th minute.

Concordia was able to break the 1-1 tie in the second half with a goal from Raul Lopez off a feed from Skipworth in the 50th minute. Doane scored the equalizer in the 59th minute with a goal by Jordan Schaffer, assisted by Kyle Smith. The two teams would play equal soccer for the next 30 minutes, taking the game to overtime. In the extra session Schaffer would score again, this time for the game winner in the 102nd minute off a feed from Devon Strecker to power the Tigers to the victory.

The Bulldog goaltender, freshman Alex McKamy, endured an offensive onslaught from the Tigers, with Doane amassing 27 shorts on goal.  McKamy registered 7 saves while allowing the three goals.

The next action for the Bulldogs comes Saturday, Sept. 27, as the Dordt College Defenders make their way to Bulldog Stadium for a 3 p.m. matchup in Seward, Neb.
