From the Nurse...
From the Nurse:
I wanted to take the time to introduce myself to all the new parents of Concordia's first-year students. My name is Andreea Baker and I am the Director of Health Services/Campus Nurse. I have been a nurse on the medical/renal unit for 4 years. I am really enjoying my transition from hospital nursing to more of a clinic setting.
Now onto business, it’s cold and flu season. We have already seen a large number of students in the health center with coughs, congestion, sore throats, and ear aches and it is only October. It is really important to emphasize to your child the importance of proper hand hygiene, getting plenty of rest, eating a well-balanced diet, and most importantly getting a flu shot! We have flu shots available in the health center for a cost of $20 out of
pocket to your child. We have already had a flu shot clinic on campus, and hoping to have another one later in the season.
The Health Center is open Monday thru Thursday with a medical physician here on staff Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I am here Monday (12:00-4:00) and Tuesdays- Thursdays from 8:30 until 3:00. Students can stop by and see me any time. We are able to provide students with immunizations, some lab work, allergy shots, treat mild illnesses, and make referrals if needed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 800.535.5494, ext. 7224.
