Attention All Graduating 2011 and 2012 Education Students

Important Info!

It’s that time of the year when all 2011 and 2012 graduating Education candidates, both Public and Synodical, should have completed their credential files and turned all documents into the Synodical Placement and Public Education Career Service office.
All education and parish music candidates met with Bill Schranz the first week of the school year to review what needs to be completed in order for a successful public job search or Synodical placement to occur. Most education candidates have already personally met with Bill to talk about the process or strategies that they could use in looking for public teaching positions and/or how the Synodical placement process will work. The completion of the candidate’s teaching credential file is very important and is still the main tool used by public school districts and by parochial and Synodical schools to hire or call students. Credential files include the candidate’s resume, application, three written reference letters, and evaluations from the candidates student teaching experience.  Students may also include other documents like an unofficial transcript or other certifications if they wish. Once a candidate has completed their credential file and has turned it into our office the files are scanned as pdf documents and will be sent via email to candidates looking for public teaching positions or the placement director will be sending these files out to calling bodies of the LCMS when requests for candidates are made to the Synodical Placement office. It is very important that the credential file is updated frequently so that it remains current.
Public teacher candidates have been encouraged to begin looking for teaching positions as early as February and have talked about strategies for doing this when they met with Bill. Synodical teaching candidates who are looking for placement will be approved for placement by the faculty soon and will be available to have their credential files sent out the first week in February if their files have been completed. Candidates can review their current candidate file status by going to http://www.cune.edu/StaffWeb/Bill.Schranz/CFC.11.12.pdf.  Complete files have “X”’s in all boxes behind the candidate’s name. If a candidate has a concern with their credential file they can contact Cindy Greene in the Synodical Placement / Public Education Career office at Cindy.Greene@cune.edu or they can call 402.643.7246 if they have any questions.
