Yellow Ribbon Program at Concordia

Concordia University, Nebraska is pleased to be a part of the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, offering qualified veterans the ability to attend for free.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is an additional benefit under the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. The base benefit of the Post-9/11 GI Bill covers the highest in-state tuition and fees at a public institution in each state. Under the Yellow Ribbon Program, Concordia and the Veterans Administration each cover half of the additional cost of a private institution or out-of-state tuition, resulting in no out-of-pocket expenses for the veteran.

Those in Concordia's undergraduate or graduate programs may qualify, and Concordia has not set a limit on the number of veterans who may enroll and be a part of the program. Each year that the student maintains appropriate academic and student standing, benefits may continue.

Effective August 1, 2011:  Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit capped at $17,500 annually

*Undergraduate tuition and fees based on full time enrollment
Degree Completion tuition based on 30 hours for fall, spring and summer
Graduate tuition based on 18 hours for fall, spring and summer

Since Yellow Ribbon Program benefits fully cover the cost of tuition, they will replace any merit scholarships earned by the student.

Room, board, books and supplies

Room, board, books and supplies are provided for separately under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Please see the VA site for more details.

Eligibility requirements and application process

You may be eligible if:

• You served an aggregate period of active duty after Sept. 10, 2001, of at least 36 months;
• You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and you served 30 continuous days after Sept. 10, 2001;
• You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran's service under the eligibility criteria listed above.

Application process:

Once a service member has applied for benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs, they will receive their Certificate of Eligibility and notice of their qualification to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

A copy of your Certificate of Eligibility must be submitted to the registrar's office for acceptance into the Yellow Ribbon Program at Concordia University, Nebraska.

Students must be accepted to Concordia through the standard admission procedures.
