Assistant Professor of Accounting
Concordia University, Nebraska seeks applications for a full-time faculty position in accounting. Responsibilities will include teaching accounting courses at all levels of the business programs of the University (graduate, adult degree completion, and traditional undergraduate), advising, curriculum development and services. This position will include teaching responsibilities at both the Lincoln and Seward campuses and may include instruction at our Columbus site or online.
Qualifications:
- Public and/or private accounting experience.
- Professional certification.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in accounting or business administration.
- Successful teaching experience.
- Proven innovation and/or entrepreneurial business venture(s) helpful.
- Experience or interest in adult and graduate education.
- Ability to use technology to support all aspects of teaching.
- Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod membership preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Teach financial, managerial, intermediate, and advanced accounting.
- Support the growth of the department through innovative ideas and leadership experiences.
- Remain current in areas of teaching responsibilities.
- Work with colleagues from multiple departments in service to the university.
Additional General Faculty Responsibilities:
- Teach courses assigned by the Dean of the College and approved by the Provost.
- Perform administrative duties assigned, such as serving on accreditation review committees, serving on safety committees, assisting with chemical hygiene efforts when appropriate, and so forth.
- Assist with the advisement of students as called upon and maintain regular office hours sufficient to serve students. Keep accurate advisement records.
- Work with the appropriate administrator when sponsoring and/or participating in student organizations and activities and other extra-curricular activities. Follow university guidelines, policies, and handbooks with regard to extra-curricular activities.*
- Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
- Attend all faculty, departmental, standing committees, and ad hoc committees as called upon.
- Actively pursue scholarly and academic research activities that are mutually beneficial. All off campus work must be approved in writing by the Provost in advance.
- Be available to work with colleagues as may be needed.
- Prepare and maintain reports and records as may be reasonably necessary for the proper performance and administration of duties.
- Respond in a timely fashion to requests from various university administrative and service offices regarding the progress of students in classes.
- Participate in the assessment of student learning as needed by the university or individual department.
- Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses during summer term as called upon.*
- Notify the Dean of the College and the Provost in writing regarding all off campus travel. Notify the Dean of the College regarding classes missed due to illness.
- Develop a professional growth plan, including an annual plan for formative evaluation and a tri-annual plan for summative evaluation. Such plans are approved by the Dean of the College and the Provost and filed with the office of Human Resources.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned and mutually agreed upon.
