Scope of services

Because our office provides short-term mental health counseling, and our staff members recognize limits to their respective areas of expertise, students who request or require ongoing or more intensive levels of mental health treatment or specialized care will be referred by our staff to appropriate community-based counseling services, located off-campus. Additionally, students who request or require medical or psychiatric evaluation or care will be referred to community-based services. Some of these services are located in Seward, Neb., while others-such as day treatment and psychiatric hospitalization-- are located in Lincoln, Neb., which is 25 miles from Seward.

Costs of services

All services are provided free of charge to enrolled Concordia University students except the following: evaluations, eating disorder assessments, and drug and alcohol evaluations. Fees are charged for missed appointments. The current fee schedule can be obtained from the counseling office.

Students are responsible for any expenses incurred when they use off-campus mental health or medical providers.

No-show and late cancellation policy

The counseling office reserves the right to charge a missed appointment fee to students who fail to appear for their appointments. Students who cannot make their appointments are required to cancel or reschedule their appointments at least 24 hours in advance. Each student will be granted one grace period for the first missed appointment. Following this allowance, each student will be charged a fee of $20.00 per missed appointment.
