Class of 1957 comes back to campus for 50th reunion

Class of '57 returns to campus May 3-5

"I had it down so that I could wake up at 7:40 and be in line for breakfast by 7:45," said Corky Markin (pointing), a member of the class of 1957 back on campus for their 50th reunion.  His dishwashing job at the dining hall, he noted, also paid 40 cents an hour.

Like many of his classmates, Markin went on to a career in teaching after graduation.  Although he officially retired in 1998, Markin continues to serve as a high school counselor in his hometown of Portland, Ore.

More than 25 members of the college class of 1957 and their spouses have been welcomed to campus for their reunion. On Saturday these honored alumni will lead the procession of graduates at the 10:30 a.m. commencement ceremony.
