Wind Ensemble on tour

The University Wind Ensemble will tour in Nebraska and Iowa during April 2008. Under the direction of William Kuhn, the band will perform a variety of selections covering the spectrum of concert band repertoire.

Rev. Tim Ruegg, Seward resident and one-time trombonist and arranger for the United States Air Force Band at Offutt Air Base, will compose an original piece for the tour. He has written and arranged music for internationally known stars such as John Denver and Mannheim Steamroller. Another selection in the program, Dies Natalis, was written by Nebraska-born composer Howard Hanson, former director of the Eastman School of Music. The ensemble will join the Coe College Jazz Band for the college's Festival of Bands in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Admission to concerts is free; an offering will be taken at evening concerts. Performances at schools and worship services are not complete concerts.
