General Studies 101
Description of GS 101:
As an introduction to the general studies, GS 101 emphasizes critical thinking and writing and research methods. Major assignments include writing a university quality research paper, class presentations, discussions of videos and movies and journal writing. A strong academic mentoring component strives to provide rich induction experiences into college life and college academics. The course is required for all traditional, first-year, full-time students.
The goals of GS 101 are:
To assist students in the successful transition from home to campus, from secondary to the university environment, and from dependent to interdependent living.
To further students' communication and critical thinking skills; and
to further students' understanding of their roles as scholars, members of the Concordia community of learners, and future servant leaders in the church and the world.
