Luka Thor, back to full form after an injury last year, led the way for the Bulldogs at the Woody Greeno Invitational cross country meet held at Pioneers Park in Lincoln, Neb., Saturday. His time of 25:27.90 put him in seventh place overall and was faster than all NCAA Division I competitors in the race. The meet kicked off the season for Concordia's nationally ranked cross country teams. Four "university division" teams ran at the invite, including meet co-host University of Nebraska-Lincoln, along with 21 teams designated as college division.
The Bulldog men's team, ranked 7th in the NAIA, turned in a strong team performance, finishing third in the college division and fourth overall.
Zach Meineke was the second finisher for the Bulldogs at 25:55.60, good enough for 12th place overall. The other notable finisher for Concordia was David Goeglein in 14th place.
The Bulldog women, who came into the race ranked 13th nationally in the NAIA, finished sixth in the college division. The top individual finisher for the Bulldogs was Alicia Marteney with a time of 23:51.90, good enough for 39th place overall.
The next meet for the Bulldogs is Saturday, Sept. 27, in St. Paul, Minn., at the Griak Invitational.
