University Chamber Choir

University Chamber Choir

The University Chamber Choir was formed in the fall of 1998 and has gained a reputation for excellence in the singing of vocal chamber music. The 16-voice choir has traveled extensively throughout the United States, with concert tours to Florida, Arizona, California, Colorado, and throughout the Midwest. The select choir, chosen from the 70-voice University A Cappella Choir, sings a diverse repertoire of sacred and secular choral music from many historical periods. Recent chamber works performed by the choir include Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, Randall Thompson’s The Peaceable Kingdom, and Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.

The Chamber Choir rehearses two hours per week and is conducted by Kurt E. von Kampen.

Vocal Jazz Choir

When giving jazz performances, the Chamber Choir trades its customary tuxes and dresses for less formal attire and sings under the name of the Vocal Jazz Choir.
