Seward, Neb. -- Liz Sneed scored 30 points on 11 for 20 shooting from the field as Midland Lutheran defeated York College 76-67 in the opening game of the Seventh Annual Cattle Classic Tournament hosted by Concordia University, Nebraska, and the Cattle National Bank and Trust Co.
Mallory Pinger added 16 points, four rebounds for the Warriors of Midland. Karmen Jericevic also added 11 points. Allie Rippe led the Warriors on the glass, pulling down nine rebounds.
Offensively York was troubled with turnovers and missed free throws but was lead by Ashley Wellman with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Brick added 13 points and six rebounds.
Both teams will be in action again tomorrow as Midland plays Haskell Indian Nation at 1:00 pm and York will take on host Concordia University at 3:00 pm.
