Director of Instructional Technology & E-Learning
Position Summary: The Director of Instructional Technology and E-Learning plays a significant role in the support and development of online instruction and of academic technology, particularly as concerns faculty development. The Director of Instructional Technology and E-Learning is expected to provide effective support in the areas of innovative use of technology in the classroom, both face-to-face and online, and in support of faculty teaching and student learning generally. In addition, the position is responsible for assuring that continual research and visioning of possible future programs and technology initiatives are a regular part of the instructional technology. Responsible for creating and maintaining an outreach program that is thoughtfully proactive, consistent and regularly brings new and forward-thinking ideas to faculty and possible applications for technology, information resources and services in teaching and learning processes.
Responsible for training and supporting faculty and staff in using Blackboard and other tools of instructional technology. Will work closely with all academic and administrative departments promoting and facilitating across-campus collaboration in developing effective and innovative techniques to enhance student learning.
Strong focus on pedagogical use of technology.
Classification: Professional/Technical - Salaried, full time; 12 month position w/benefits
Reports To: Provost/Associate Provost
Qualifications:
- Minimum master's degree in an academic subject area appropriate to the college level; terminal degree preferred.
- Four years of experience as an instructional designer, developer, trainer, teacher, writer or combination of all of the above.
- Teaching experience at the elementary of secondary level is desirable; strong knowledge and experience in higher education required.
- Extensive online teaching experience.
- Significant experience with at least one Learning Management System and the ability to demonstrate technical and pedagogical capacity with Blackboard. Experience with Blackboard highly desirable.
- Experience providing training and support for course management system with faculty and students.
- Experience working with student academic support services (information literacy support, writing labs, etc.) is desirable.
- Successful record of working directly in areas of instructional technology in an educational context.
- Should be perceived as a deep subject expert information technology in academic context.
- Demonstrated effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with a high priority placed on the ability to effectively undertake instruction and other public speaking engagements.
General Duties:
- Works directly with deans, faculty and students providing relevant instruction, outreach and support in a proactive and thoughtful manner.
- Oversees academically-focused technology instruction and its assessment.
- Works closely with faculty and academic departments in supporting the University's effort to integrate technology fluency skills into the curriculum.
- Keeps abreast of changing technology generally and its application in the higher education environment specifically. Maintains a deep knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues and best practices in faculty outreach, instruction technology competence, curriculum design and a wide variety of technology appliances.
- Teaches courses in Educational Technology at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Trains and supervises student workers for instructional technology for a broad range of outreach, consultation, instruction and support programs.
- Collaboratively designs and leads faculty development programs in teaching and learning technology including face-to-face training and self-instructional materials for faculty and student use.
- Plans, leads and assesses workshops to train faculty and staff in basic and advanced use of Blackboard's learning management system for both traditional and online courses.
- Works with faculty to prepare courses for online, hybrid and other technology enable deliver modes.
- Assist in the administration and evaluation of existing online courses of instruction including the collecting and analyzing of data for the assessment of courses and programs.
- Develop plans and proposals for the expansion of online instruction into new courses and programs, including degree completion programs.
- Coordinates student support for Blackboard and other informational tools with university academic support services, e.g. Library, Academic Resource Center, online writing lab, etc. [Helps instructors integrate library, writing assistance, tutoring and other services available to support learning into course design.]
- Understands and implements best practices for electronically offered courses, degree and certificate programs, including enabling instructors to integrate techniques to enhance a sense of community and provide a unique "Concordia experience" for distance students.
- Serves as a liaison coordinating communication and services among faculty and computing services partner-vendors and other associate instructional and technical support relationships. [Works with on-campus computing services and outside providers of technology and online support to coordinate assistance for students and faculty.]
- Conducts sustained, evidence based assessment as to whether distance learning programs are achieving objectives and use results of assessment to guide curriculum design and delivery, pedagogy and educational processes.
- Assists instructors in documenting assessment of student learning outcomes in each course and at the completion of the program.

Director of Athletics
Position Summary: This position provides vision, leadership and direction to the athletics department in a manner consistent with the mission and vision of the university, and in compliance with conference, region and national governing bodies.
Classification: Salaried, 12 month position with benefits
Reports To: Vice President for Enrollment, Student Services and Athletics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; masters or PhD degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience in athletics management or related management field.
- Minimum 3 years athletic coaching experience.
- Knowledge of athletics, identifying and hiring coaching talent, management of people and fundraising skills are integral components to this position.
- Proficiency in the use of software applications including Microsoft applications, databases and work processing required.
- Ability to develop, interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency.
- Ability to raise funds and interact with donors, traveling when necessary.
- Ability to create and maintain positive, enthusiastic relationships with fans, donors, businesses, coaches, players and athletic department staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.

- Must live within 10 miles of Concordia University, Nebraska campus.

General Duties:
- Develops an athletics department vision and strategic plan and directs implementation and evaluation of that plan in a manner that is consistent with the mission and vision of the university; represents the university and its athletic program in a positive manner.
- Directs the recruitment, training, practice, competition, teaching and support of athletic programs to achieve the mission of the department and the university.
- Works together with the Director of the Health, Human Performance and Athletic Center (HHPAC) and the VP for Enrollment, Student Services and Athletics to vision and execute plans that will increase revenues and expand the reach of Concordia through its athletic complex facilities.
- Collaborates with the VP of Institutional Advancement and advancement staff in fundraising and development activities to raise money for athletic department operational funds, scholarship funds and capital projects.
- Fosters an environment that will allow the athletic department to compete at the highest levels and build brand awareness for the university.
- Directs the duties of the administrative assistant, coaching staffs, athletic training staff, equipment staff and athletic department student workers; leads the hiring, training, development, supervision and evaluation of that staff.
- Ensures intentional and frequent communication of current athletes and coaches to alumni, boosters, parents and friends of the university.
- Ensures that athletic department coaches, athletes and staff are nurtured spiritually and provided opportunities for growth, support and positive accountability.
- Supports and collaborates with the undergraduate admission, marketing and communications department and the event management staff to build significant, positive brand awareness in Nebraska, surrounding states and LCMS communities for Concordia University, Nebraska athletes.
- Prepares and administers the athletics department budget, providing fiscal oversight for the athletic department and related activities, including scholarship strategies and management of restricted funds.
- Provides oversight and policy direction for summer camp programs run by the athletic department and its coaches, collaborating with the Director of HHPAC to ensure maximum revenue generation and equity of policy for athletes and Concordia University athletics.
- Maintains compliance with university, conference and NAIA eligibility and financial aid parameters and requirements and represents the university at all conferences and governing body events.
- Complies with all university, conference, NAIA, federal, state and local reporting requirements.
- Directs and supports a vibrant booster club in support of Bulldog athletics.
- Fosters a strong relationship with the city of Seward, promoting use of facilities in support of a win-win partnership.
- Oversees and directs scheduling of athletic contests and officials, along with special athletic department events, including the Hall of Fame activities.
- Ensures highest ethical, moral and spiritual standards for all aspects of Bulldog athletics, and promotes spiritual development of coaches and athletes.
- Ensures a strong commitment to NAIA Champions of Character initiatives.
