Anthony Elias, admission counselor

Anthony Elias was born and raised in San Jose, California. Elias is a graduate of Concordia University, Nebraska. Elias earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Performance. He has been an assistant men’s basketball coach here at Concordia since 2006.
“Concordia is a special place because it gives everyone a tremendous opportunity to grow spiritually, socially, athletically, and academically. A student might come here with the intent to grow in only one of these areas but being in an environment that is so accepting and supportive they can not help but grow in so many more ways, that they never even imagined. I came to Concordia from Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, Calif., and after two years I left not only as a better student and athlete, but as a better Christian. Concordia is a special place and I am very proud to be able to say that, 'I am a Concordia graduate.'”
Territory: Elias is the admission counselor for transfer students and "re-admits," students who are returning to Concordia. He is also the counselor for high school students in the Nebraska counties of Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington.

“My sister came to school here and I saw the awesome friendships she made with people from all over the country. I saw the opportunities Concordia provided for spiritual growth, learning academic and life lessons, and developing close friendships with a variety of people in a Christian community. I decided I wanted to be a part of that community. I am glad that I did. I met so many awesome people who shared Christian values and broadened my perspective. I came away with great friendships and many fond memories and lessons learned. I enjoyed opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun in many areas—from mission trips, to classroom discussion, to intramural sports, and random nights hanging out with friends. It all came together to make a great college experience.”

College football and basketball (March Madness is the greatest sporting event of the year!), playing cards and board games, listening to music, reading, and eating.

Concordia offers the chance to succeed not only academically but personally and spiritually because of the huge network of support that you receive. I like the fact that you never feel that you have to 'figure it out on your own' from admissions to graduation there is always someone to help, a huge benefit of such a unique Christian Community.
