A Concordia Christmas, presented by the Concordia University Department of Music, offered audiences the chance to kick off the holiday season with three concerts on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7.
The concerts wove together Scripture readings and Christmas music from around the world. The concert program also included some traditional holiday hymns, audience participation and pieces composed or arranged by members of the department.
"The overall program of Bible verses and music offers a majestic, worshipful experience, more than just a concert," said Dr. Kurt von Kampen, director of the University A Cappella Choir and Concordia Chorale, the men's chorus.
In addition to the two ensembles directed by von Kampen, the University Wind Ensemble, handbell choirs, Concordia Singers and the Brass Ensemble participated. In all, more than 200 student musicians were involved.
