You might have thought grades were at stake based on how closely the audience was listening to Sharon Cabeen Monday at Concordia.
Cabeen, a financial literacy expert from the National Student Loan Program, spent an hour demystifying credit reporting agencies, clarifying how credit is scored and explaining which financial actions raise or lower a person's credit score.
Senior education major Amber Odom heard about the seminar and decided it would be wise to attend. "I know I am attempting to build credit," said Odom, "but I don't know what I am doing right and what I am doing wrong, so I am hoping to learn what would be good for me."
Cabeen's visit was hosted by Concordia's chapter of Students In Free Enterprise chapter and Dr. Stan Obermuller, professor of business administration.
"Maintaining credit scores is a vital component of personal financial management, so I jumped at the chance to have the NSLP present a session regarding the topic during National Financial Literacy Week," said Obermueller. "It is information that every student needs to know, whether they are studying business or not."
