Concordia's nationally ranked cross country teams hit their stride over the weekend, with both the men's and women's squads taking first at the Bronco Invitational hosted Saturday afternoon by Hastings College. The Concordia men are currently ranked No. 7 nationally and the women's team is ranked No. 13.
"So far we have had an outstanding season for both our men’s and women’s cross country teams," said Dr. Kregg Einspahr, head cross country coach. "Our men seem to be improving where we need to at our No. 4 and 5 scoring positions. We have quite a few young our inexperienced women in our top eight runners and so we have shown gradual and continuing improvement with that bunch as the season has progressed."
The Bulldogs, according to Einspahr, will now focus on improving foot speed. With the conference championships two weeks away and nationals in a month, practices will be geared for racing and less on overall strength.
Concordia's cross country teams travel this weekend to Vermillion, S.D., to take part in the South Dakota Invite hosted by the University of South Dakota.
