Information on Admission and Financial Aid for Foreign Students: Graduate Programs

An international student is one who is a citizen of a country other than the United States of America and who requires an F-1 visa status to engage in academic studies in the United States. Students with U.S. Resident Alien status apply through the Concordia Admission Office.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To meet admission requirements, the international student must :

  • Complete the application forms and pay the required fees.

  • Be proficient in the English language as measured by TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or other comparable instrument. A score on the TOEFL examination of 500 or above is required for admission. Information and registration forms for the TOEFL test are available in your country at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate, USIAD Office, or Fulbright House. The student should request the TOEFL test company in Princeton, New Jersey, to mail a copy of the test score to Concordia University, code number 6116.

  • Have a college/university grade point average indicating that the student has performed academically above average as shown on a transcript (school academic record of the student). One transcript in the native language and one transcript in English must be provided. Each transcript must show the school seal or stamp, address of the school, and signature of the ranking official.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

To meet the requirements for the I-20 form and F-1 student visa status, the student must:

  • Make application to Concordia University and be officially accepted.

  • Submit proof of financial support that will meet the total educational and living expenses for the first-year period of study at Concordia.

  • Possess adequate English language proficiency for the intended course of study.

  • Comply with the provisions of the Certificate of Eligibility to Study in the U.S., Form I-20.
