WBB: Bulldogs go 1-1 at CSM Tournament

The Concordia University, Nebraska women's basketball team went 1-1 over the weekend while at the College of St. Mary holiday tournament held in Omaha, Neb.

Kansas Wesleyan got the best of the Bulldogs on Friday, downing Concordia 79-68 in the opening game of the tournament. Kansas Wesleyan, leading 35-27 at halftime, kept up its strong shooting in the second half and went on to an 11-point victory.  

Concordia shot just 39 percent (23-58) from the field while hitting on just 6-of-20 3-point attempts. Kristin Miller led the Bulldogs with 15 points and eight rebounds while Stacy Scheer added 14 points off the bench.

The Bulldogs took out any lingering frustrations Saturday against the College of St. Mary with a 102-65 victory. Concordia cruised in the first half to a 33-point lead, 63-30, and went of to win the game by 37.  

Shooting improved from the night before as the Bulldogs hit on 11-of-24 3-point attempts and also stayed hot from the free throw line, going 21-of-26.

Miller again led the Bulldogs offensively with 17 points while Whitney Stichka and Melissa Tinkham each added 15 points for Concordia. Kathryn Ommen registered a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs now sit at 6-3 overall and 0-1 in the GPAC. Concordia will travel to Crete, Neb., to take on the Doane College Tigers Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m.
