The Concordia University women's basketball team dropped their 2008 GPAC opener 85-75 to the Hastings College Broncos Tuesday night at Lynn Farrell Arena in Hastings, Neb.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-10 lead early in the first half before the Broncos stormed back on a 16-4 run over the next four minutes. The Hastings lead grew to as many as 15 before Concordia was able to shrink the deficit to 10 by halftime, 45-35.
Hastings used a strong inside game in the second half to keep the Bulldogs at bay and Concordia was never able to cut the lead to less than 10 as the Broncos held on for the victory.
Whitney Stichka led the Bulldogs offensively with 17 points while Melissa Tinkham added 14 and Stacy Scheer added 11 points off the bench. Lindsay Ducey led the Broncos with 27 points.
Hastings moves to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the GPAC while the loss drops Concordia to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the GPAC. Concordia will look to get back on the winning track on Friday, Nov. 28 as they take on Kansas Wesleyan as part of the College of St. Mary Classic in Omaha, Neb.
