WBB: Bulldogs roll in opening game of Cattle Classic

The Concordia University women's basketball team rolled to an opening round victory in the 2008 Cattle Classic, defeating Waldorf College (Iowa) 80-53, at the Doghouse in Seward, Neb.

Concordia, powered by a run late in the first half, surged to a 41-21 lead over the Warriors at halftime and never looked back en route to the 27-point victory.

The Bulldogs were hot from the field in the second half, shooing 15-of-32 from the floor, while forcing 21 turnovers by Waldorf.

Melissa Tinkham paced Concordia with 15 points while three other Bulldogs also scored in double digits: Whitney Stichka (13), TaLisa Krejci (12), and Kristin Miller (10). Krejci turned in complete performance adding eight rebounds and four assists in addition to her points. In all 12 different Bulldogs scored on the night.

Concordia dominated the glass,out-rebounding the Warriors 59-36.

Waldorf was led by the duo of Aubrey Draves with 12 points and Sarah Swanson with 11 for the Warriors.

The win moves the Bulldogs to 3-1 overall while the loss drops Waldorf to 1-3 overall.

Next action for the Bulldogs comes Saturday, Nov., 15, at 3 p.m. as the Bulldogs take on Iowa Wesleyan in the final game of the Cattle Classic at the Doughouse.
