Chamber Choir on tour
The University Chamber Choir is scheduled for a tour in Arizona and
Nevada in February 2008. Tour stops include area churches and schools to
perform concerts, assemblies and clinics.
The sixteen-voice select choir is chosen from the University A Cappella
Choir and conducted by Kurt E. von Kampen. They will perform a variety
of chamber choral works including music of J.S. Bach, Martin Luther,
Volckmar Leisring, John Rutter, Moses Hogan and others. A centerpiece of
the concert is the performance of Harlem Songs, a new set of three
anthems by American composer Gwyneth Walker based on the poetry of
African-American poet Langston Hughes.
Admission to concerts is free; an offering will be taken at evening
concerts. Performances at schools and worship services are not complete
concerts.
