MSOC: Bulldogs drop season opener

Article Body

The Concordia University men's soccer team had a rough beginning to its 2008 season. Kansas Wesleyan took just 4:04 to take the lead en route to a 4-1 defeat of the Bulldogs Monday evening at Bulldog Stadium in Seward, Neb.

Mario Rodriguez took a cross from teammate Aldo Luna and buried a shot in the top right corner to earn KWU's first goal.  The Bulldogs' lone goal came off a handball in the penalty box in which Concordia was awarded a penalty kick that Aaron Skipworth was able to put home.  The goal brought the Bulldogs back within one at 2-1.

Kansas Wesleyan would put two more goals in the back of the Bulldogs net before the night was over. The next test for the Bulldogs comes Wednesday night as Concordia welcomes Grace University from Omaha, Neb. to Bulldog Stadium for a 7 p.m. match.
