SB: Greene resigns as Bulldog head softball coach

Concordia University, Nebraska Athletic Director Grant Schmidt announced Monday that the Bulldog softball coach Frank Greene resigned his post to take a position with Triple Crown Sports. Greene will continue to serve at his post at Concordia through August 15. The search for a replacement will begin immediately.

Frank Greene finished his eighth year as the coach for the Bulldogs in 2008. Greene became the winningist softball coach in Concordia history in 2005 and finishes his career with a record of 232-151-1. During his time at Concordia the Bulldogs made six consecutive appearances in the NAIA regional tournament, won two regular season GPAC championships (2005 and 2008), and were the 2007 GPAC post-season tournament champions. In 2005 Greene was named the NAIA Region IV Coach of the Year and the GPAC Co-Coach of the Year.

"I want to thank Coach Greene for his years of service to Concordia University," Schmidt said. "The student-athletes under his watch achieved many successes on and off the field. We wish him the best."

Greene, a Wayne State (Neb.) graduate also was an instructor in the business department, teaching business communication, human resource management and organizational behavior. As a freelance sportscaster, Greene lent his talent to the Concordia Sports Network as the voice of many Bulldog football, volleyball, and basketball games.

Greene and his wife Cindy have three adult children and three grandchildren.
