Bulldogs lead GPAC in Scholar-Athletes

For the fifth consecutive year, Concordia University, Nebraska led the Great Plains Athletic Conference in number of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Scholar-Athletes. The GPAC as a whole, which features over 4,500 student-athletes in 19 sanctioned sports, had 455 student-athletes earn the NAIA honor.

During the 2007-08 season the Bulldogs paced the conference with 57 scholar-athlete award winners. In the last five years Concordia has had 245 student-athletes garner the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award.

In order to receive the honor, players must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and be junior or above in academic standing. This was the first year that certain statistical requirements had been removed by the NAIA.  Following is a breakdown of Bulldog honorees by sport:

Women's Cross Country: 4
Men's Cross Country: 3
Football: 8
Men's Soccer: 4
Volleyball: 3
Women's Basketball: 9
Men's Basketball: 2
Women's Track: 10
Men's Track: 6
Women's Tennis: 3
Women's Golf: 2
Men's Golf: 1
Softball: 2
