Concordia University, Nebraska volleyball coach Rachel Miller announced today that Kaylie Mellema of Axtell, Neb., has signed a letter of intent to join the Bulldogs.

Mellema, a 5-11 senior at Axtell Community School, was an honorable mention on the 2007 Omaha World Herald class C-2 All-State team. Mellema also brings a strong academic profile with her to Concordia as a four- year member of the honor roll, a three-year member of the National Honor Society and  a state qualifier in the Future Problem Solvers program.

"I am thrilled to have Kaylie join the Bulldog family," said Miller. "I look for Kaylie to provide strength and height in the setting position, and her experience playing a number of positions (middle, right side and setter) will benefit her greatly.  Kaylie loves the game, and I'm excited to see what she will accomplish at Concordia."

Mellema will join a Bulldog volleyball team that finished the 2007 season with a record of 21-14, 8-8 in the GPAC.
