TF: Bulldogs win 10 events at GPAC Championships

The Concordia University outdoor track team earned 10 event championships and numerous All-Conference finishes, as the both the men and women finished third in the team standings at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship meet, Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Bulldog men had eight champions beginning with Michael Saalfeld winning the 800 meter run with a time of 1:51.44. Zach Meineke easily won the men's 3000 meter steeplechase by 12 seconds with a finishing time of 9:27.68.

Luka Thor re-established his dominance as he won both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter runs. Thor had to fight off Doane's Sufin Kimo to win the 5,000 by just .80 with a finishing time of 15:16.15. Thor then went on to win the 10,000 easily by almost 20 seconds with a finishing time of 32:52.81.

The Bulldogs then took first, second, and third place in the finals of the 400 meter hurdles as Derrick Woods won with a time of 54.47. Woods was followed by fellow Bulldogs Daniel Kober and Jimmy Boeder who finished second and third respectively.

Dusty Morehead continued his dominance over the field as he won the pole vault of 4.75m he was followed closely by teammate Josh Tonniges who finished second with a vault of 4.65m

The final victory for the men came when junior Jordan Hinrichs won the men's hammer throw by over three feet. Hinrichs winning throw of a distance of 186'3".

On the women's side the Bulldogs first victory came in the 4X400 relay. The Concordia team of Emily Wolters, Amber Quinn, MaryLou Andrews, and Katie Swanson was victorious with a time of 3:57.77. The Bulldogs then won the 4X800 as the team of Andrews, Ann Hersberger, Alicia Marteney, and Katie Lutmer post a winning time of 9:26.67.

The final victory of the day was in the women's hammer throw. Amy Sandefur took first place for the Bulldogs with a mark of 156'11". Both men's and women's team finished third in the team standings, as the men registered 106.5 points while the women ended the day with 164 points. The Bulldogs also had numerous All-Conference finishes, to earn All-Conference honors a top eight finish is required. Those who had All-Conference finishes are listed below:
