Business programs re-accredited

Article Body

Concordia's business degree programs were recently re-accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education. Announced in early April at the organization's annual conference, the accreditation is the result of a self-study report and on-site examination by trained evaluators.

"The evaluation team mentioned that they were highly impressed with our students," said Dr. Stan Obermueller, chair of the business department. "They also commended us for our internship program and curriculum. We offer a variety of experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom."

The evaluators examine each institution's program in eight key areas: outcomes assessment, strategic planning, curriculum, faculty, scholarly and professional activities, resources, internal/external relationships and educational innovation.

"Accreditation provides independent assurance to students and parents that a quality education is offered here," said Obermueller.

According to Obermueller, recent graduates consistently mention the foundation in ethics they received Concordia as a critical part their education. Computer skills gained at Concordia were noted as being important to getting a first job or contributing to advancement.
