The Concordia University, Nebraska Track team kicked off the outdoor season with a sold outing at the Hastings Relays held in Hastings, Neb. Saturday.

Two conference champions from the Indoor season would pick up victories for the Men's team with Michael Saalfeld winning the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:09.75 while Dusty Morehead won the Pole Vault, clearing a height of 15-09.00 while two time All-American Luka Thor picked up the other victory for the Bulldog men in his first action after sitting out cross country and the indoor season due to injury. Thor won the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:31.62, besting second place by more than four seconds.

Other notable finishes for the Bulldog men: Derrick Woods, second in the 110 meter hurdles. Jordan Hinrichs, fourth in the hammer throw. Matt Baller, fourth in the shot put. Drew Rodine, second in the triple jump. Adam Birt, fifth in the 200 meter dash.

On the Women's side the throwers continued the dominance they established during the indoor season with former Bulldog thrower Christina Lark winning the weight throw while Katie Werner and Carly Stokebrand finished third and fourth respectively. Stokebrand also finished third in the javelin throw. Werner, the indoor champion in the shot put, also won the shot put competition at the meet Saturday with a throw of 42-9.50, the throw also qualified Werner for the NAIA National Outdoor Championship meet.

Charista Zehnder had a sold day for the Bulldog women sprinters, finishing second in both the 100 and 200 meter dash events. Katie Lutmer also added two second place finishes for Concordia in the 800 and 1500 meter runs for the Bulldogs.

Other notable finishes for the Bulldog women: Jill Pfiefer, fifth in the 100 meter dash. Katie Swanson, fifth in the 200 meter dash. Bethany Sutton, fourth in the 400 meter dash. Alicia Marteney, third in the 1500 meter run. Ann Hershberger, fourth in the 1500 meter run. Taylor Felix, fifth in the 5000 meter run. Emily Wolters, third in the 400 meter hurdles.

The Bulldogs will next be in action on April 5, 2008 at the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Neb.
