The Concordia Singers gave a concert in Iowa on Saturday and returned to perform at St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward on Sunday evening, March 2.
The 54-member ensemble is conducted by Dr. Kurt von Kampen, associate professor of music. The choir specializes in sacred music from a variety of historical periods and participates frequently in chapel on campus and in worship services at area churches.
"The program for this tour is a service of word, prayers and song. It is a seamless presentation centering on Christ and his saving work revealed to us throughout scripture," said von Kampen.
The selections include those by composers of church anthems such as Donald Busarow, John Ferguson and Walter Pelz. Dr. Jeffrey N. Blersch, associate professor of music and chair of the music department, also arranged one of the selections.
"We are pleased to share our music and Christ with others through our performances. Touring also allows students to grow musically, spiritually and socially," said von Kampen.
