Seward, Neb. -- After a slow start the Concordia University, Nebraska women's basketball team found their offensive rythm to defeat the Haskell Indian Nations University Indians, 76-51 in the second game of the 2007 Cattle Classic on Friday night in Seward, Neb.

Concordia improves to 2-0 with the win while Haskell evens their record at 2-2 on the season.

Both squads struggled early on, playing to a 12-12 tie with 10:35 left in the first half. Senior Libby Hirssig broke a 21-21 tie with a free throw and started what proved to be a 14-0 run by the Bulldogs over the final 3:39 in the first half.

Concordia picked up in the second half where they left off in the first, out-scoring Haskell 20-8 during the first 4:49 of the second half, capping the run with a triple by sophomore Stacy Scheer. Scheer long-range field goal was one of 10 on the night by the Bulldogs. Haskell would get no closer than 23 the rest of the way, as the Bulldog lead ballooned to as many as 34.

Junior Melissa Tinkham led Concordia from beyond the arc, going 6-of-8 from downtown. Tinkham finished with 20 points and eight rebounds to go along with three assists and a pair of steals in 24 minutes of work.

Whitney Stichka led all scorers in the game with 22 points. Stichka converted 75 percent of her shots from the field and dished out four assists. Freshman Kristin Miller just missed double digits in scoring with nine points.

As a team the Bulldogs shot 41.2 percent from the field but struggled from the charity stripe, hitting just 10-of-21 free throws.

Haskell was led by Kortney Smith who finished with 18 points. Whitney Warrior was the only other Haskell player in double digits with 15 points on 60 percent shooting.
