Seward, Neb. -- Five different players scored in double figures as the Waldorf College Warriors held off Avila University on Friday evening for a 70-67 victory in game one of the 2007 Cattle Classic in Seward, Neb.

Waldorf (3-0) remains perfect on the season with the win, while the Eagles of Avila even their record at 2-2.

Avila jumped out to an early lead, 5-0, in a game that featured seven lead changes and nine ties. A three-pointer by Waldorf's Nicole Lunning just over five minutes into the the game knotted the score, 7-7.

Waldorf then went on an 11-3 run to take their biggest lead of the game 18-10 at the 11:32 mark in the opening half. The Warriors led the majority of the rest of the first half, until Avila opened up a three-point advantage, 35-32, during the final 39 seconds of the frame.

Avila opened up their biggest lead of the game, also eight points, with 8:40 remaing on a free throw by Jordan Palin. Waldorf then turned the tables on the Eagles, going on a 13-1 run, to take a four-point lead.

The teams were tied three times in the final 4:33, but Waldorf was able to hang on for the win down the stretch despite shooting just 46.4 percent from the charity stripe for the game.

Mimi Kovacevic led Waldorf with 14 points, 10 coming via the free throw line. Kate Milbrandt and Sarah Swanson each added 12 points while Megan Forster and Ali March chipped in with 10 points each.

Jaime Kenny scored a game-high 19 points for Avila. Ashley Townsend finished with 12 points for the Eagles and Alyson Young added a double-double, scoring 11 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
