Concordia University, Nebraska inducted four individuals and one team into the Concordia Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 12. The induction ceremony, part of Concordia's annual homecoming activities, took place in the Thom Leadership Education Center (TLEC) auditorium. Inductees were also recognized during halftime of the Concordia - Nebraska Wesleyan football game on Saturday.

The Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1994 to pay tribute and giverecognition to former athletes, coaches, teams and others who have made exceptional contributions to the athletic programs at Concordia. Honorees also exemplify the Christian principles to which Concordia adheres.

The 2007 inductees are:

1995 Volleyball Team


The 1995 Concordia volleyball team enjoyed some of the greatest success in the history of Bulldog volleyball. The squad set a school record for wins in a season, compiling a record of 40-10 and was one win away from qualifying for the national tournament. The squad also finished second in the NIAC and won four tournaments and were ranked as high as 16th in the NAIA.

Darcy Lindner

Darcy Lindner participated in track, volleyball and basketball during her career as a Bulldog. She was a three-time NAIA All-American in track as a part of two relays and in the javelin. In volleyball she was named NAIA All-District and All-NIAC. She was also named a NSCAA All-American twice. Lindner was named the Concordia Female Athlete of the Year in 1991.








Timothy Marshall

Timothy Marshall is one of the most decorated tennis players in Concordia history. In 1991 he became the first Bulldog to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament. During 1992 Marshall was 15-2 in singles play and won the district title. Marshall did not lose a single conference match during his career and was named the 1993 Concordia Male Athlete of the Year.











Tim Schwan


Tim Schwan was a four-year letterwinner in swimming. A three-time team MVP, Schwan set numerous school records including the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and the 1650 freestyle. In addition nearly all of the school records in relays fell, including the 400 medley relay. He set the school record in the 200 individual medley in 1972. He also served as a team co-captain multiple times.










Devin Smith

Devin Smith helped Concordia reach the NAIA National Tournament in 1991, amassed 1,659 points and was the first Bulldog named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team. In 1992 he was tabbed the Concordia Male Athlete of the Year, an honorable mention NAIA All-America selection and earned All-NIAC and All-NAIA District status for the second straight year.
